Active and Passive defence with Kyo Kushin Karate

The need to write this blog arose because not a lot of people i know treat martial arts such as Kyo Kushin Karate, Systema or Akido as a defensive science with both active and passive elements, both being extremely important and equally different depending on the nature, experience and intend of the practitioner.

Passive Defense:
Passive defense in martial arts like karate (Kyo kushin) or similar arts is the most known and commonly used variant of self defense which is as a response to an attack, usually when the attacker has attacked or grabbed the practitioner. This is the most common defense because it is based on instincts and natural reaction with reference to human reflex and muscular response.
The most common example of such defence would be to break out of a choke hold, or to punch after blocking a strike.
Active Defense:
This form of defense is the most effective and practicle form of defense which results in a much more effective way to take down ones opponent with the least amount of effort while keeping ones self safe. This mode of defense is perceived as a bit more difficult as it requires much better bio mechinical coordination which is built by alot of practice and training which many people do not do (require the easy way out).
This mode is best described when a person anticepates the attacker and intercepts the attack with their own attack or hold. An example is when a women counters an attacker and throws hom back when he tries to grab her.
